Shiblee Noman

Shiblee Noman is Assistant Professor at Department of Japanese Studies, University of Dhaka. He completed his Bachelors and Masters from the Department of Political Science, University of Dhaka. Previously, he was Faculty Member at Department of Political Science, Jagannath University, Dhaka and earlier at Brac University. He is a co-author of a research book Brexit Referendum: Democratic Dividend or Deficit (2016) and author of numerous research articles and book chapters. He has participated and presented papers in various national and international seminars, symposiums and workshops in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Japan, India and Thailand. He has completed a short course with distinction from Sophia University, Japan as Japan Foundation Fellow. He also presents English News at Bangladesh Television (BTV). He also has the experience of working with Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), National Academy for Planning and Development (NAPD), Mitsubishi Corporation, Bangladesh Television (BTV), for research, report preparation, lecture delivery and presentation. His research interests are—Civic Education and Civic Engagement, Governance, Public Policy, Bangladesh Politics, Japan and East Asian Politics, Geo-politics and Political Economy.

Md. Saifullah Akon

Md. Saifullah Akon is an Assistant Professor in Japanese Studies at the University of Dhaka. He is also the Executive Director of Indo-Pacific Network (INPANET), a network of leading researchers that aims to exchange and enhance knowledge related to the Indo-Pacific. He obtained his Bachelor and Master’s degrees in International Relations at the University of Dhaka. Mr. Akon presented a good number of papers at international conferences held in Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Thailand, and South Korea. So far, he has published more than 15 journal articles in both national and international peer-reviewed journals and 6 book chapters from different world-renowned publishers i.e., Emerald, Palgrave Macmillan, and Springer. His most recent publication is an article titled South and Southeast Asian Perceptions of Japan’s Strategic Rise for a Balanced Indo-Pacific: A Cross-National Case Study on Bangladesh and Thailand (2023). He has years of professional experience working on different national and international funded projects. He has also experience in working with international entities such as JETRO, and Sumitomo Foundation. His areas of specialization are Indo-Pacific, FOIP, Security, Japan-South Asia Relations, Aid Diplomacy, Disaster Diplomacy, Foreign Policy, and Human Rights.
