The Pan-Asia Research Institute (PARI), a Japan-based global think tank, has hosted an online seminar on Japan’s contributions to the social development of the South Asian nations.
The event styled ‘Japan’s Contributions to the Social Development of the South Asian Nations with Particular Reference to the Japanese NGOs’ figured out the comparative appearances of Japanese NGOs in South Asian countries in respective aspects.
The initiatives and issues regarding the involvement of the young generation in social development sectors were also discussed, said a press release on Thursday.
The speakers in the seminar outlined the necessity of governmental and institutional patronage for activities meant for social development.
Prof Masaaki OHASHI, emeritus professor at Keisen University, Japan, was the keynote speaker during the seminar.
Dr Arjun Kumar Karki, former ambassador of Nepal to the USA, president-Rural Reconstruction Nepal and Global coordinator, LDC Watch, and Hitendra Singh, theme leader at the Buddha Institute, India, also spoke.
PARI president Yuji Ando chaired the seminar, which was moderated by PARI executive director Dr Abdullah-Al-Mamun.
Students, faculties, and Japanologists, from different countries of the South-Asia region, including the ASEAN bloc joined the webinar.
